"Tribute to the Susquehanna"
“Tribute to the Susquehanna” was conceived as a weather vane to be placed on the roof of Bloomsburg PA's Children Museum. This 17 foot long piece is totally made from stainless steel donated by local business man Tony Rado. Made to move freely in the wind, it was given to the museum in the hopes of promoting more awareness of the importance of the Susquehanna River to the culture, environment and vitality of the area. Represented in the piece are
the shad and the eel both of which contributed greatly to the food supply of the indigenous peoples and early settlers. Today we are seeing efforts to return the shad to the waterway by the construction of fish passage facilities at the four hydroelectric dams on the lower Susquehanna.
